LP’s Heart Jump Start Protein Smoothie

Mark often has smoothies for breakfast. Veronica had an idea to make them even more healthy. One day at Costco, she found organic beetroot powder. She added it to a smoothie and thus began the LP Heart Jump Start Smoothie! Our go-to breakfast or meal replacement smoothie. The ingredients chosen are geared toward optimizing your cardiovascular health. Everything in this smoothie is there for an excellent heart reason. These ingredients are readily available at your local grocery store, health food store, or big box store. The ingredients include:

Whey Protein: Research has shown that consuming whey protein can help lower blood pressure and improve overall cardiovascular health. Whey protein contains bioactive peptides that can positively affect blood vessel function and reduce the risk of heart disease.

Almond Milk: Almond milk is a heart-healthy alternative to dairy milk. It is low in saturated fat and cholesterol and contains monounsaturated fats and antioxidants to help lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart disease.

Beetroot Powder: Beetroot powder is rich in nitrates, which help improve blood flow and lower blood pressure, reducing the risk of heart disease. Its antioxidant properties also help protect the heart from oxidative stress and inflammation.

Pomegranate Juice:  Pomegranate juice is rich in antioxidants, which help protect the heart from damage and inflammation. Drinking pomegranate juice has been shown to lower blood pressure and improve cholesterol levels, reducing the risk of heart disease.

To begin,

Put half a cup of crushed ice in your blender.

Add 6 ounces of unsweetened almond milk.

Add 4 ounces of Pomegranate juice (pomegranate seeds can be substituted.)

Add one heaping tablespoon of Beetroot powder.

Add one heaping teaspoon of ground flax seed (whole flax seeds are not easily digestible and will not provide the same benefits.)

Add two scoops of high-quality Whey Protein powder.

Finally, toss in a few fresh raspberries, blackberries and/or blueberries.

Blend in blender.

Add a straw.
